Frequently Asked Questions

FAQS

How long do I have to complete the course after paying for it?

There is no time limit. You will have access to the materials and test for as long as you need.

What equipment is covered with this course?

You will be OSHA certified on 3 different pieces of equipment. The standard sit down forklift, the stand-up counterbalanced lift, and the electric pallet jack.

How long does it take to go through all of the study materials?

For most people, it can be completed in about an hour.

What happens if I don’t pass the test?

You’re allowed to re-take the test as many times as you need until you pass. However, most people ace the test on their first try.

Will I get a physical OSHA license after I pass the test?

Yes, you will be able to print off your license and it will also have a built-in evaluation form so that your employer can easily complete their portion. If you want a physical laminated license with your photo on it, we can do that for an additional $20.

How long is my OSHA license valid for?

3 years. OSHA requires the test be re-taken every 3 years, regardless of your experience level.

Do I need to take a hands-on class, too?

If you don’t have any prior forklift experience, we do recommend it, but it’s not mandatory to get a job. Some employers prefer operators who only need to be trained on their specific equipment, but others will give you full training. If you want to take a hands on course, we can connect you to a school in your area.

Can you help me find a good paying job once I’m certified?

Absolutely! We have employment partners in just about every metropolitan area.

How much does a certified forklift operator make?

It varies by area of the country and the specific work environment. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national average is $18.45/hr. However, in most cases, you can expect to start around $20/hr with raises based on experience and competency.

Do you offer bulk discounts for employers who need to get their employees certified?

Yes, we do. Contact us for more details.

Can a 17 year old get a license to operate a forklift?

No. OSHA requires that all operators be 18 or older.

Can I work as a forklift operator without taking this test?

No. OSHA regulations require that all powered industrial truck operators are sufficiently trained and certified.
